Are you tired of potholes, cracks, and an unsightly driveway? It might be time for a complete asphalt driveway installation. This blog post will outline the typical steps involved in this process.

Initial Assessment and Preparation

The first step is removing the existing asphalt driveway. This involves clearing away the old material to prepare the base for the new driveway. As part of this process, we will also look for any issues with the foundation under the garage floor. This area is prone to deterioration caused by water intrusion between the garage floor and the driveway. If minor repairs are needed, we will core fill the block with class 5 base material and cap them off with Sakrete. This process will prevent the new driveway from collapsing into the foundation where those voids may have developed. If more extensive repairs are needed at this time, we will recommend having a concrete foundation contractor assess and make the needed repairs.

Base Preparation

A solid base is crucial for a long-lasting driveway. We'll remove any contaminated or faulty base material and replace it with fresh material. If necessary, we'll sub-cut the driveway, haul away the old base, and install a new, at no extra cost. We'll add Class 5 base material to ensure a minimum depth of four inches. This material will then be graded and rolled to achieve proper drainage, compaction, and slope.

Asphalt Paving

The final step is to install the asphalt. We'll apply three and half inches of MV4 Hot Mix Asphalt, which will be compacted to three inches, for a smooth, durable surface.

Remember: This is a general overview of the asphalt driveway installation process.Specific needs may vary depending on the condition of your existing driveway and local soil conditions. It's essential to consult with a professional contractor for a detailed assessment and quote.
